Week of March 27th

I am putting this picture on here one more time, because it seriously made my week! I've never had a student make a shirt for me before! :)

Look at the cute, clever treats that Easton brought for St. Patrick's Day. Can't believe I forgot to take a picture of TJ with his delicious cupcakes!

Annika and Mya had matching light-up earrings! Too cute!

It was fun to watch the Will James Honor Choir perform on Tuesday. Some of our classmates even got to go on stage for the final number. See if you can spot Marissa, Amy, and Tyton in the picture!

Happy Birthday, Marissa! You are sweet, positive, hard working, optimistic, smart, and so kind. We hit the jackpot when we got you in our class! Hoping your day is as special as you are!

I was extremely proud of Tyler and Laurel for doing a Science Fair project. That is a lot of work and not required, way to go guys! You rock!

This week in reading, we will begin Unit 5, Week 1, which will answer the essential question: How do we get what we need? We will read two fairy tales, "Clever Jack Takes the Cake" and "Juanita and the Beanstalk." We will also read the expository (factual) text "When Corn Was Cash." This week we will work on the skills of summarizing, point of view, root words, and singular/plural pronouns. All of our spelling words this week will be compound words. The vocabulary words we will be focusing on this week are:

In math this week, we will begin Chapter 11: Perimeter and Area. We will work on modeling perimeter, finding perimeter, finding the unknown side lengths, and understanding area. Thank you for continuing to encourage your child to work on their multiplication and division facts at home. It helps tremendously when they can recall their facts fluently. Only one more quarter until fourth grade math!

Mark your calendars: our THIRD GRADE SPRING MUSICAL will be on April 6th at 8:45!

I hope everyone has a delightful weekend. See you Monday!

Code Word = Fourth Quarter
