Week of February 8th

Loved Ava's shirt!

On Tuesday we got to watch the fifth grade Spelling Bee ~ very impressive!

Ty's new puppy, Winnie, came in for a quick visit. Puppy breath could be one of my favorite things in the world. She was sooooooooo sweet!

Owen is a AR-quiz-taking rock star. Seriously impressive I tell ya! :)

This week in reading we will continue on with Unit 5: Heroes Across Time. Our theme vocabulary words this week are amazing and famous. I think every student has chosen a hero to research for our Wax Museum Project, so we will dive more in depth into researching our heroes this week. Please ask your child who he or she is choosing to "become!" We will work on the skills of sequencing events and cause and effect, as these are the skills we still seem to be struggling with on our Raz Kids quizzes. We will also do some Valentine's Day themed language activities, too. Our spelling words this week are all compound words.

In math, we are continuing on with division. Students are doing a marvelous job of using multiple strategies to solve division problems. In their repertoire so far: drawing an array, making equal groups, using fact families, repeated subtraction, and using a number line. We will work with dividing 8's and 9's this week, as well as work on multiple step division story problems.

On Thursday, we will have our Valentine's Day party from 10:30-11:45. A HUGE thanks to our room mom, Susie Guzman, for planning and organizing a fun morning for our class. Also, thanks to those of you who are volunteering your time or items for decorating cookies. What an amazing group of parents!

Remember: we will have an early out on Thursday (the 11th) and then there is NO SCHOOL on Friday (the 12th).

Have a great weekend!
