Week of November16th

Another week is in the books! We started the week with a music performance by the 4th and 5th graders that honored our veterans. It was cool to see the gym packed in red, white, and blue for Veteran's Day!

I loved Carson's shirt that said "Go Your Own Direction."
The weather is getting colder and we had to break out our winter gear this week :(

Madeline's dad, Steffan, is an archeologist for Yellowstone National Park. He came and talked with us about studying how humans lived long ago and brought along some cool artifacts, too.

In reading this week, we will be focusing on the vocabulary words tourist, village, and trade. We will finish reading Living on the Land in our Theme Readers. We will continue doing research for our Inquiry Projects, which are focusing on specific questions for coastal, mountain, plains, and desert communities. In writing, we will finish our procedural text and write a friendly letter!

In math, we will continue working in Chapter 4. Students will be making flash cards for each of the multiples we learn, so please encourage them to work on these a few minutes each at night at home. We have worked on multiples of 0, 1, 2, 4, 5, and 10 so far! The more they practice, the better they will do. As I told them, you become better at multiplying by... practicing multiplying! :) Funny how that works!

Have a great weekend!
