Week of November 9th

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend! Next week, we are back to FULL days of school. (I think I just heard the students collectively *sighing*! lol). :)

My heart is feeling absolutely full after conferences (I am exhausted, but my heart truly is filled to the brim). I had 100% turnout (which is a first for me!) and I was so delighted to talk to each of you about your child. The love, support, and encouragement you show your child is a teacher's dream come true. I leave every night with the peace of mind that these kiddos go home to loving parents that value education. And I am very aware that is not the reality in many places. What blessed kids! And I hope you feel assured that everyday your child comes to school to a teacher who loves them dearly and is invested in their education and in them as individuals. I really, really love this group of kids!!! Okay, enough gushing, moving on....

In reading, we will begin Unit 3 in Lead 21 which focuses on the "Shape of Land." Our theme vocabulary words will be geography, community, and business. We will read Chapters 1 and 2 in our Theme Readers called Living on the Land. In language, we will continue to work with figurative language, prefixes, and subject/predicates. In spelling, Unit 10 will deal with words that have the same vowel sound as "clown." In writing, we will begin writing a procedural text that teaches the reader how to do something.

In math, we will wrap up Chapter 3 and take our assessment, which focuses on figuring out multiplication by drawing equal groups, arrays, and using repeated addition. In Chapter 4, we will apply those strategies and start really working on learning our multiplication facts. Please spend a few moments each night practicing the facts we are working on (with start with multiplying 0, 1, 2, 4, 5, and 10). Even a few minutes a night will help out a ton in the long run!

In social studies we will tie in what we are learning in Lead 21 to our own community/state of Montana. In science, we will continue talking about the four forces of flight and balanced/unbalanced forces.

Well, that's all for now. As always, if you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me. Thanks so much for all the support! :)

  1. We are very lucky that our kiddos have a teacher like you. One who cares so much for them and their education. We are the ones truly blessed. I am sure that your mom is smiling on you everyday. You are so lucky to have had such a great example to follow. Thank you for sharing with our kiddos! - Tami
