Bennettisms

Every day, Bennett causes me to chuckle several times with things he says (and how he says them). Here are some current things he has said that have cracked me up:

* He loves to argue with my word choice. If I say something about the mud, he'll correct me: it's not mud, "it's wet dirt." If I say we are going to turn right, he informs me that we call that "not left." If I ask he wants a short-sleeved shirt, he will instead request "a shirt without long sleeves." He is pretty clever in how he phrases the OPPOSITE of what I say.

* About a hundred times a day (I'm not exaggerating) he says, "Wait! I have a good idea!" And then just says something normal. Like requesting a drink or certain TV show. But I guess in his little mind those are great ideas.

* I love the way he says "girl." He pronounces it like "grill" but with a w instead of the r. So he will say, "I am a boy and you are a gwill." It's the cutest.

* When Nick comes home from work, he happily announces, "Welcome to Bazorkee." (In his defense, Absarokee is a hard word).

* I asked him the other day if he would like to get a lab puppy in the spring. Without hesitation he replied, "Sure, but can we sell Olive?" (Olive is a typical puppy and likes to chew on his toys... and pee everywhere... and run the other way when called... and wakes us up early in the morning...). Maybe he's on to something :)

* He loves the word "regular." He only likes "regular" milk and "regular" pizza and "regular" dinosaurs.

* The other night I asked him, "How'd you get so darn cute dude?!?" His reply, "All daddy." He's right, but he didn't need to say that ;)

 * When eating Cheetos for the first time the other day, he exclaimed, "Those were delicious cheetahs! We should go shoot some more." Granted, he is used to eating the meat that Nick hunts (elk, antelope, etc.). So in his little mind those orange Cheetos surely came from an animal!

* He is big into dinosaurs right now. Which I love, because my mom LOVED paleontology. When you ask him to name a certain dinosaur, he'll reply, "That's an ancient stegosaurus" or "That's an ancient triceratops," Don't know where he picked up on the ancient word, but it's too cute.

Last Post

Easton made me a sweet poster! Thank so much, E!

Travis, where are you?!

My tie-dye buddy!

I loved Dylan's guitar earrings!

Fort Day

For TJ's birthday, his parents brought all the kiddos Clown Cones from Baskin Robbins. Sure do love that boy. He gives the BEST hugs in the world - seriously!
Avery and her little sister are too sweet!

On the last day, Mason (Mya's brother) pitched in the Teachers vs. Students game. Grant was voted as our class MVP for always showing such great sportsmanship and kindness. I forgot to get a picture, but it doesn't lessen how proud I am of Grant!

My former student, Becca, taught the kids some interesting facts about Geysers and Yellowstone.

Arrowhead is losing on amazing young woman. Laurel will be going to Boulder next year - they are sooooooo lucky to have her!

On the last day, we played "Elk, elk, moose" and telephone.

It was also Travis's last day, as his family is probably moving to Bozeman. Can you tell by the way they are dog-piling him that he will be missed immensely.

Well, that's a wrap.  Thank you for a great year. Each and every student will forever hold such a special place in my heart. I hope you will write me in Absarokee. If you are ever driving through, I would love to have you stop by!

P.S. The kids were sooooo sweet with planning their surprise party for me the last day. I loved the confetti, pizza, cupcakes, sweet notes, and hugs. And a huge shout out to Erica for vacuuming the confetti. ;)

P.S. For those that asked, my personal blog, it is: petersonsonthestillwater.blogspot.com

Until we meet again....

Week of May 30th

On Wednesday we celebrated the sweet Mya's summer birthday. If you know Mya, you know how sweet, fun, smart, thoughtful, and artistic she is. Love you so, so much, Mya! Happy birthday!

It was also her brother's birthday. Thanks for the smile and treat, Mason!

Ellecia and her mom gave me the cutest basket, full of amazing goodies!

I am obsessed with the apple leggings that they gave me! Thank you so much Stacey and Ellecia!

It was fun having Grant's snake join us for the day. Most of the kiddos really liked Mr. Grumpy...

Addison and Avery weren't too sure! ;)

Miss Hergenrider's mom passed away from cancer last week (I attended the funeral, which is why I was gone on Thursday). And it really got me thinking about life and love and losing loved ones and saying goodbye. I found this quote, which I love! And it's so true: even though I am about to say goodbye to these amazing kiddos, I will carry apart of them with me forever. Just like I carry my mom with me wherever I go. Isn't love awesome? It never leaves us! :) "All that we love deeply becomes a part of us."

I cannot believe this is the final week of school. We will spend the week doing some final end-of-the-year reading and writing activities. We will continue to review and assess on math skills.

We will be cleaning out desks and cubbies on Thursday and taking everything home. This might not be a great day to bike, as backpacks get pretty heavy.

We will be passing out Yearbooks on Wednesday.

This week we will participate in a sportsmanship based wiffle ball tournament. Each class gets to play two wiffle ball games during the week and as we play we look for students who are showing awesome sportsmanship, on and off the field. At the end of the week, the class will vote on the classmate who showed the best sportsmanship (this week and throughout the year). The student we select will get to play in the students vs. teachers game on the last day of school. Please make sure your kiddo has tennis shows on the days we play games (Tuesday and Thursday). We will play Mrs. Wilson's class on Tuesday morning and Mrs. Zalenski's class on Thursday. Then the teachers vs.
We will also have the auction this week. Please have items here by Tuesday!

Enjoy your three day weekend!
