I Have a Dream....
Here is the part of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have A Dream” speech that each student should be working on memorizing! We will present our speeches in class next Friday (January 25th).
I say to you today, my friends, that in spite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.
I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident; that all men are created equal."
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slaveowners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
I have a dream today.

Half Way!
Can you believe we are half way through the school year?!? Time sure does fly when having fun. :) Second quarter report cards are coming home today. Please sign and return the report card envelope as soon as possible. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's report card, please don't hesitate to let me know.
After a year and a half together, the students are all getting very "comfortable." I love watching the kids interact and collaborate with one another. However, if you could please remind your child to finish the year strong by: listening to the speaker, focusing on their work (not the person next to them), and remembering to turn their assignments in on time (especially their math and reading logs).
Thanks so much for all your support at home. This is a truly marvelous group of students, who I feel blessed to teach. After two years together, they will forever hold an extra special place in my heart! :)
